When setting up a flat-top upper and I am planning to mount a scope, do I need to replace the regular FSB with a gas block and flip down front sight for the scope to be able to "see through".

Or, will the scope height see right over top of the FSB?

I am in the process of looking for and buying a flat top upper and I am wanting to be sure what I need in order to possibly use a scope in the future.

Thank you.

You don't need to change the front sight. With the scope. you'll be looking right through the FS (it will be way out of focus).

With a highpower scope you won't even notice it.  But as the magnification decreases, say to around 4x like an ACOG, the FSP will be noticeable as a faint gray blur in the bottom of your field of vision.

But even so, it is not distracting at all.
