Is the DPMS 24" Lo-Pro Upper barrel assembly a good upper  for just over $400 or should I go with another brand?

For a varmint upper, you will be happy.  I had a DPMS 20" that was consistantly accurate.  Unfortunately, I didn't have a use for it or a venue for varmint shooting so I sold it.  If it's a complete upper with B/BC/CH for $400, it is a pretty decent deal.

I believe the DPMS barrels (the stainless ones) are .223rem, not 5.56 chambers.   Just in case you hadn't thought of that.

That's all I'll probably be shooting out if that one if I get it. I've read that the 223 my be more accurate do to the head space or something like that if that's all you shoot out of it.

So I figured I could use the LC in my 16” and 223 in the 24”

For that price is there another upper out there that is just as good if not better?

I have not seen better $$ for similar equipment. I got a 16" Lo-pro from Midway a while back, but I sent it back because I was not happy with the gas block and the fit to my RRA lower.
