what are the advantages to getting a rifle with a chrome-lined barrel over one that is not?? I will using it for target shooting at 100 yrds or less and for home defense. Thanks! |

Chromed lined is a bit more durable, easier to clean, and more resistant to fouling. It's nice to have, but not necessary. That said, I have two chrome lined barrels and one standard barrel and can't say I can really tell a difference between them as a matter of normal use. If you don't mind spending the extra $50, you might as well do it. If you do mind spending the extra money, don't worry about it. |

oh yeah, chrome gives you uber tactical points. ![]() > I will using it for target shooting at 100 yrds or less and for home defense. At that range it won't matter (unless by 'target' you mean 5 shots and 1 hole) > Thanks! Ya welcome |
| Go with the chrome lined. You never know when you may want to go to the beach and shoot some sharks. Corrosion is a M.F. (LOL).hug.gif I am in favor of chrome lined myself. |
Their biggest advantage is that they last longer! Their SECOND biggest advantage is that you don't have to clean them at all, unless you're just anal about such things. I clean the barrel of my nearly 40 year old Colt SP1 carbine about every 600-700 rounds, more out of pity for the old gal than anything else. |
