Evening All I want to change my upper receiver to a A-4 upper or the new IRS upper that Rock River is introducing this summer. My question is will the front site be visible when looking through the scope that I would mount on the rifle. Would I have to change the front sight to a flip up type sight so it would not be visible in the scope? What I'm looking at is A.) A IRS receiver with flip up front sight with gasblock. B.) A A-4 upper receiver assy, A.R.M.S # 40 low profile flip - up rear sight, and a flip up front sight with gas block. Don't want to do anything untill question above is answered. Thanks |

As noted, even with a 4X ACOG mounted to one of my M4s the standard FSB is NO issue, with higher powered scopes no matter whether your height is above or below the front sight post you'll never see it as it's simply too close. Your scope will look right thru it. While all my AR15 rifle have ARMS 40A2 BUIS rears on them all but the long range CR6724 have standard FSBs. Optics include 2 Aimpoints, ACOG and Leupold optics with no FSB "obscuring my view" issues. YMMV, but I am no fan of front flip-up front BUIS and have always prefered the standard "F" marked FSB on A3 flat-tops. Mike |
