I just mounted my Rifle length rail (YHM )on my AR took it to the range no FTF no problems at all....smae ammo (AE 55gr FMJ)same barrel 11.5" but the rifle is shooting so far to the left that my Eotech was almost all the way to the right to get it to Zero (at just 25meters) I took the rail off and mounted my old one on it(carbine YHM)...same thing shooting left... whats up?? I changed all the hard wear on the swap (rail Barrel nut) I followed the how to here and turned to the next whole for the gas tube with the tighten loosen over and over now it shoots way left... help needed thanks Jamie Barkwell |

I don't think he HAS a FSB. Rifle-length handguard and 11.5" barrel. If you weren't using the rail/no front sight base, I'd ask if you had any play (clockwise/counterclockwise) in the barrel before you tighened it up? If not, (based on what I've read - never done this myself) you may need to slightly file open the left side of the notch in your receiver that the locator stub on the barrel goes in (see sticky on building/changing barrels). If you DO have some play (and I hope you do so you don't have to do any filing), just rotate the barrel more to the counterclockwise before you tighten down the barrel nut. Obviously, that doesn't apply to you, though... you don't even have a FSB, so who cares if the barrel is a little off? Rifle-length FF handguard on a carbine... Is the rail on slightly canted clockwise looking at the receiver from the front? You say your rail seems to be making your sight too far left. Have you tried installing the rail slightly (only a few degrees) counterclockwise from how you have it tightened down now? Just a few degrees off clockwise could conceivably make your sight too far left. Anybody run into this before? I'm an AR noob in comparison to most of the people here. I bet someone has seen this before. |

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f23/barkwell01/lf.gif not mine but you get the idea... my Eotech is mounted on my upper (last slot as far forward as it can go)the FSB was center before no it is cut down...no play in the slot and the upper and lower is Armalite never had this problem before the ff tube/rail is in line with my upper the barrel looks(as if I could see to be in the center of the tube.... I would take a picture but the camera went swimming...Jamie Barkwell |
