I am very interested as well. I was planning on ordering a 24" heavy bbl varmint kit from Model 1. After doing some more research I am ordering from J&T. Unfortunately they are out of the fluted SS right now |

I ordered my kit on Monday, it shipped on Tuesday, and arrived Wednesday. That is FAST! Everything went together well and pretty darn easy. The only fitting required was to file and polish the center of the bolt catch roll pin. This was to facilitate easy unhindered movement of the bolt catch. I deburred the hole in the catch also to make sure. This was all after having installed it and it was way to tight so I had to remove the pin and slightly undersize the middle portion. Smooth as butter afterwards. I still plan on taking out the trigger group and ploishing up the contact surfaces to smooth up the trigger and lighten it a bit until I decide to spend the money and get a nice two stage. One word of caution though. The bull kits are only chambered in 5.56. I specifically asked when I ordered it if it was chambered in .223 and was told yes. I get it and the barrel says 5.56 on it. I called the next day and spoke to Nick and he said they only offer them in 5.56. I will not fault him though as the person I asked was the lady who took the order. I have not fired it yet and am still deciding on what to do depending on the results of my research. All in all I have nothing bad to say about J&T. I am frustrated with the mixup, but that was probably just a misunderstanding on her part. Nothing too major. My other condsideration, Model 1 does offer them chambered in .223 though in case you're after .223. |
They are still in the industry section under AR Manufacturers, look for DSC/ J & T Distributing. I ordered a 20'' upper from them and it has not had one malfuction of any kind. I put about 550 rounds through it (mostly Wolf). It is a very nice quality upper. I only wish they would get their website back up. Nic |

I mailed my order in on Tuesday. I called friday to see if they had recieved it yet, the lady that did the orders was gone already. They told me to call back monday... :( I want my kit... i have this stripped lower just sitting here staring at me.. begging for parts... begging to be shot.. uhg... I'm HOPING they shipped it out on friday, and should be here tomorrow |
You should have called and placed the order. It saves a few days that way. I'm too impatient for mail. I want it now!!! Plus, on the phone you can ask questions etc. You should get it today or tomorrow I'm guessing. It took one day from there to Iowa with my order, and your just north of them. Who knows, you may have ordered something they don't have in stock, and since you didn't call to place the order you don't know. You may have to wait a month or more. I'm just giving you hell and trying to make you more anxious. Did it work?

I built a cheap JT 20" standard last year and all in all it went well. Shipping was fast and the product was as advertised. The color was darker than the Bushy lower, but no big deal. I have about 800 rds though her and no problems. I tested wolf in her last weekend and after 200 rds not a single malfunction. For an inexpensive kit it was worth the $$$. |

I called them Monday. The nice lady said they were waiting on my Money Order to clear the bank. (I didn't think M/O's had to clear the bank). I was stupid, and didn't ask how long it would take. But I would assume that it should be through by now. So, I think I'll call them when I get home this evening. It might just be waiting on me... (hopefully) Oh, I don't like to use credit cards, unless i absolutely have to. So, I mailed an order in. I called to make sure they would have everything. And to make sure all the prices were correct. For some reason, they don't respond to emails. I don't know what that's about.... Waiting Impatiently, Zach ( go bobcats) |

I built seven of their kits. The only problem I ever had with them was a bad charging handle. It must have been an odd ball. It had a bad finish and several divit's like center punch marks. They sent me a replacement the day I called and let me keep the bad one for free. Great service! They took my word for the defect and let me keep the damaged C/H. I don't now of any other company that would do the same, just on my word. Back in '99 the country was in a AR parts crunch. No one could get their kits on time because kalifornia was sucking the industry dry due a AW registaration deadline. . AR Kits were selling faster than they could make them and they were going for top dollar. It got so bad that you had to wait for months to get your parts kit. Unless you went through ASA and that's another story to it's self. It even went to the point that people thought that the Gov't had something to do with that fact that you couldn't get your kit because no one had bolt & carrier groups to go with the kits. Some AR kit companies were offering to put a rain check on the B/C groups and send the kits without them just to cool the flames of mad customers. At that time J&T did their first visit to the bigest gun show in So. Cal, (Pomona fair grounds). I was one of many that was enduring the long wait for my kits via mail order. I asked J&T if they would put my name on the kits that I ordered and let me kick them up at the show, plus honor my internet price. They did just as I asked and let me take (5) of the kits they brought for the Kalifornia gun show. I actually got my complete kits weeks before people who ordered way before I did. I was sold on their customer service since then. I must admit that after picking up a Double Star receiver last week I was a little disapointed that it wasn't as perfect as I thought it would be considering they are now part of J&T. I'm not unhappy with the lower, just expected a little more than what I got. I haven't ordered from them in a long time but if they are half as good as they were in '99, their customer service would be hard to beat! Anyone out there remember thoes days, when Kalifornia sucked the market dry? S/T |
I know it sucks to wait. I bought a gun off of Guns America and paid with a certified check. I still had to wait. I was perpelexed by that since it was a bank certified check. You can't blame them for coevering their butt though. I always used to think that money orders didn't need to clear. I guess I was mistaken. You could have ordered COD. It is only $6.50 more I believe. Just think how glad you'll be when it actually arrives. So far I am very pleased with my kit. At 200yds with 3 shot groups I can get two touching and one flyer (around 2" groups). I did it four targets in a row and without a good rest. That's a pretty good indicator to me of what it is capable of. I am making some sand bags today and expect those groups to really tighten up. These are with 75gr HPBT hornady match bullets over Varget out of a 24" 1:8 bull barrel. |

So, I called JTdistributing today to check the order status. They lady told me they were wroking on it and it should ship. Then, she said "let me check". Came back and said "It'll ship next Tuesday probably." Uhh..... "We're still waiting on the M/O to clear and the lady that does the ordering and money stuff isn't going to be here this week. No one here knows how to check on it and we're not allowed." So only ONE person at their business is allowed to handle orders? Interesting.... I'm kinda aggrivated. Why does it take so long for Money Orders to clear? Checks will clear in 2 days. Even when shipping across the country. And I'm only 3 hours from JT. Starting to wish I ordered from Del-Ton. |
