K, clueless newb alert....

been reading up preparing for when my Stag lower finally shows.

I've got a DPMS rifle tube, spring and buffer, and an ACE skeleton stock I intend to install

I think I've gone through the two pertinent guides here on lower assembly... but I'm a little unclear on the assembly of the rifle buffer tube.

Without a castle nut like the carbine tube appears to use... how does the rifle tube get or stay tight?  I read the guide that says to torque it to a certain foot/lb value... but how does this play with the buffer retaining pin/spring?

what sort of wrench does one use to install the rifle buffer tube  so as to get it tight without deforming it, etc.?

the Buffer tube has a flange on it similar to that of a standard bolt or screw. This flange snugs up against the back of the reciever.

Idealy the rube will start to snug at just the right position to retain the buffer retainer.

You can tighten it with a standard AR Multi-tool like the DPMS wrench or you can use an adjustable wrench.

When I installed mY Ace stock couple years ago.  I completely built the lower first and then installed a Junk mag in the mag well and held the assembly between my feet on the floor with the backside of the rec. sticking up and gave the tube alot of hell getting it tight, hasn't come loose yet and I've take the Ace off a couple times and installed the A2 and back again.

HTH,
Jason
