How the hell do you get the buffer tube out of the stock?

the easiest way i do it is to take off the buffer tube from the lower reciever....

The tube isn't in the lower, I have it on the desk and either way I slide the stock holding the release it hits a stop at each end.
Edit for spelling and more info: This is an older aluminum tele stock.

Pull straight down on both sides of the adjustment lever, and slide the stock off the rear of the buffer tube.
