Here is my build.  I used a CMT stripped lower and a Model 1 Sales Car kit.  I changed the stock last night.  It has been through a number of variations (optic, rail, light, vertical grip, ect) but this is what I think works best for me.

What do you guys think?

Do you think I should switch out the CAR handgaurds for M-4 style handguards?

Next up - 20" A2 rifle.

Looks good.
I prefer the carbine handguards over the M4.

Nice build. Congrats.

Try out both styles of hanguards and see which one you like better.

My opinion is the M4 handguards match better with the M4 barrel with the M203 grenade launcher notch.

I completed my middy carbine and 20" Gov't profile barrel A2 clone last year and my next project is a precision rifle.

Where did you get a CMT lower

Thanks AR3.

I picked up the CMT lower at Whitaker Guns (Owensboro, KY 270-229-0140) right after the Clinton Gun Ban expired.  I had never heard of CMT lowers before and have not seen one for sale since then.  I wish I had bought all they had on hand that day but alas I only got the one.

It seems the CMT lowers are rare.  My S/N is 01XXX.  I am curious how many were made.  Any idea?

How do you attach a picture to a post?

I have a picture of my rifle on webshots, but I cannot get it to transfer over to the post.

Would you guys help me?

Here is my beasty with a Cav Arms lower and an DSC barrel. The upper is unknown, but the BC is a colt. And the scope is a BSA.

I have been to the range once, and it shoots quite nicely. This is the first AR15/M16 type of weapon that I have fired since I got out of the ARMY.

I intended to zero the scope, but after a few rounds, I started having WAY to much fun.

Looks good CSP.  I prefer the M-4 handguards myself.  I have both styles and tried both on my m-4 and I thought that the m-4 style looked and felt better.

i like the CMT lowers also.  i have two.  one in the #300 range(centuryarms marked)  and a "globe" marked CMT in the #1300 range.  it seems that somwhere around the 2000 mark they switched to the Stag Arms name.

I am using a C.A.R. Dual Tactical Plate that I got from Model 1 Sales.  I found that the right side of the plate was in the way of the forward assist so I had a machinest friend remove that side, make it look just like a standard end plate on the right side, and restore the coating.  He did a great job.  He actually took the part he removed from mine and attached it to one of his standard end plates so he has one just like me.
