I am considering my next build.  I am thinking about a carbine but I have two questions.

I am wanting to use handguards that give me the same hand hold as I would expect on a full size AR, so do I want to use carbine handguards or M-4 style handguards?  I want the carbine's grip area on the handguards (right by the delta ring) to be the same as on a full size AR.

What are your thoughts on DPMS lowers?

Your assistance is appreciated.

The M4 handguards are wider than a standard rifle handguards.

The DPMS receivers are usually ok, but nothing special.  Mega, and Stag (CMT) both make an outstanding lower receiver that is sold for $90-100.

You could try a mid length gas system with standard A2 stock. That should be a happy medium.

The longer the handguard the thicker it is in the rear. The m4 guard is oval shaped, not round

Or you could try a dissy.

And DPMS lowers..........!
