Are model 1 CAR kits good for reliable shooting?  Also is it still upgradable in the future?

I also would like to know which stripped lower would complement this kit?

Thanks

I found Model 1 thanks to you guys!!

It will be as upgradable as any other kit from anywhere else.

I've been very happy with my M1S stuff.

The last one was a Dissipator kit, with collapsable stock, green furniture, built on a MEGA lower.

Shoots like a dream... I gotta get pictures up soon.

i love Model one.

jtdistributing.com has good stuff too.

can't go wrong with either of them

i can't say for M-AParts.com, but i hear they have good stuff too.

i am waiting on my mega receiver for my last M1S parts kit, which is a 24" bull bbl kit. i am very happy with the quality of the kit.

I've built 2 Model1Sales kits, & My only issue was the hole in the bolt catch was ever-so-slightly-too-small. A brand new quality drill bit would'nt even begin to mar the surface of the catch hole. As far as the claims made on this site about M1S bolt catches being soft is total B.S.! I had to lightly file the center of the roll pin to make sure the catch would rotate on the pin. Be sure to try the catch-to-roll pin clearance is O.K. before assembly. Driving that pin out AFTER to modify it is NO FUN! I had to grind My punch flat on one side.

Yep, the M1S lower parts kit leaves much to be desired.  I had to adjust the bolt catch and detent springs to make it work for DPMS lowers.

I have a CAR complete upper by Model 1.  First of all it shoots fine,  when I zero'd it,  it shot a dime size group at 25 yards.  (as any barrel should)

My only beef was that the bolt carrier had a burr on it.  It runs fine but my RRA stuff is a notch above to say the least.

I would say Model 1 is a choice for those who are on a tight budget.  I personally think that the top notch stuff isn't that much more expensive and you shouldn't compromise quality.

I just received my DS-4 m4 flat top kit from JTdistributing yesterday and built it last night on a LAR Grizzly stripped lower.  What an Awesome kit!!!  Off to the range tomorrow

I had no problems installing the Model 1 Sales kit on my Oly lower.

I will be ordering another kit soon for a spare DPMS lower I have kicking around.

I ordered mine back in the Dark Days, and once the ban was lifted I started to modify it..

Here is a before and after

Model 1 makes some decent uppers (~5k of Wolf polymer through my M4 from M1 and it's still going strong), but their LPKs are less than desirable (I had an out of spec disconnector and hammer), and their QC could use some work (I've recieved an upper with a broken FP from them).

If you order on the website, you should be golden.  If you order by phone, make absolutely certian they understand what you want, because returns are a nightmare with M1.

I'd rather buy from J&T.

ETA: "Upgradability" has been addressed, I've found that the uppers match the CMT/Stag lowers very well from a fit/finish (and cost) standpoint.

I did order a new barrel nut from Model 1 that came in with messed up threads, I called and told them about it, they shipped a new one right out, no questions asked.

I don't know if they have any quality control issues (Only my 2nd order), but they had good customer service.
