I recently noticed that the knurled ring on my Larue 7.0 FF tube is a bit loose. I can rotate the forend slightly (within the range allowed by the locking clamp). I instaled it myself, and I never used a wrench to get it really tight. The instructions from LaRue and also the one son this site say to use a "strap wrench." I am unfamilair with this tool, but I am more than willing to buy one. Is there one that is recommended? Where can I order one or purchase it at retail? Thanks! |

I have two LaRue hand guards and I used a strap wrench on one and not the other. I use the Sears type (larger size fits perfectly). They are both still very tight with no movement of the hand guard after about 1,500 rounds through each. Don't know if I am just lucky or if my hands are as strong as the strap wrench. MadDog |
I haven't used it on a FF, just on plumbing and a few shotgun caps. I use the troy FF's and they don't attach the same way. The wrenches are very effective as long as you aren't using them on anything overly abrasive. I snapped the first one I had. |
I got the same type strap wrench aat the local dollar store for $2.99, and used it to tighten the nut on my collapsible stock. Worked great! |
