I'm looking at an Eagle upper that has a Shaw barrel assembly versus a Del-Ton that has a Wilson barrel assembly. Any recommendations of one over the other? Here's the specific ones - Eagle 16" M4 Chrome Lined Preban Upper This 16" upper uses a Shaw M4 chrome lined government profile (light under the handguards), 1/9 twist, 5.56 NATO chambered barrel. This upper comes with a removable A2 flash hider, bayonet lug, forged front sight base and M4 style handguards. Available with either an A4 flat top upper or an A2 fixed carry handle upper with adjustable 800 Meter sights (choose at checkout). Complete upper receiver assembly also includes enhanced bolt/carrier and charging handle. Complete upper receiver assy with bolt/carrier and charging handle $439.00 Del-ton (option 2): AR-15 16" Pre-Ban M4 Flat Top Barrel Assembly DT1009 Comes with Wilson Arms 16" 1x9 twist chrome moly M4 barrel, flat top upper, bolt and carrier assembly, charging handle, CAR handguards. $405.00 Option 1 With Bolt, Carrier & Charging Handle With Charging Handle. I had one issue with Del-ton where they didn't specifically state chambered for 5.56mm. I sent them an email and they confirmed it is, which is what I guessed. Eagle states that they all come headspaced. Del-ton doesn't mention it. But again, I assume they do as well. And the only other subtle difference (aside from price) is that Eagle says the assembly comes with a "...government profile (light under the handguards)" and Del-ton states it has a CAR handguards. I don't know what is meant by the term government profile. They look the same??? |
Interesting, that makes sense-RRA uses Wilson and they're M-4 barrels are usually HBAR under the handguards, I think. |
