I am just now finally getting started on a build I have been trying to get to for a while.  This build will try to fill the gap between my kiss carbine and bull barrel varmint rig.  My full varmint rig weighs in at nearly 15lbs and is just too heavy to tote around all day and too awkward to deploy and move with quickly and easily.  Of course, the KISS carbine doesn't have the accuracy or optics to really handle varmint size targets (mostly prairie dogs)

So, my new project is sort of envisioned as a precision able "truck gun"---sort of a civi recce/spr:

THe lower is already built--stag with WOA tuned RRA 2stage trigger and ace skeleton stock.  I upper wear a DD free float rail, PRI flip up front sight/gas block and I will mount a MSTN muzzle brake to help allow for "spotting through the scope" and fast follow up shots.

The main issue now is selecting a barrel: In fact, the main issue is selecting a barrel length and that's what I was hoping you guys could give me some help with:  I am trying to pick between a 16inch medium or spr contour barrel or an 18 spr contour barrel.  I would like to have the extra 2 inches for velocity but not if it is going to make the rifle too unwieldy???

What do you guys prefer for the best compromise in barrel length????

16 or 20. Not a big fan of the 18s, myself.

I like 14.5.  It is my compromise between 10.5 and 16.

Personally, I'll go 16" in your case (for all purpose).
