I heard Mega Machine Shop has something like this in the pipeline (maybe next few months???)  I'd contact www.carricozarmory.com/ to check on this.

I know that there are some difference between the early lowers, but what are the differences between the A1 style and the current lowers?

I was trying to get him to do a run of custom lowers (had 20 people committed to a group buy with more maybes) and the dude will never return calls or e-mails so I quit trying to work with him.

I've found he's an extremely busy guy.  I've been thinking that from his hours, he does this on the side apart from a normal 40hr job!

Give him a call later a night, if you are still interested.  If you can get ahold of him on the phone, he's a nice guy, and will get you the info you need.

I asked him about the standard slab side lowers and he said those were about 30 days out or so... (that was a few days ago of course).

Oh yeah - he is a great guy.   When I could nail him down he as great.   But, like you said, really busy.  I was trying to put together a sure thing and it was just too hard to try to coordinate.

the one's that MEGA are talking about doing are only going to shave the mag fence, they still will have the reinforced area in the rear..and I have heard that there are a couple already out, but they still have the Gator grip on the front of the magwell...

Im a big fan of MEGA ( got 6 of em) but Im not going to buy a halfassed copy when I can get something that is done correct.

The early Colt's didn't have a mag release fence correct?  At least my Colt Sporter (purchased in mid 80's) doesn't have one.

Yes, the original ones Mega released were slab side with a Gator grip.

I was unimpressed with that manuever.

It sounds like they just leave one of the CNC processes out, its not making a completely different receiver.  That is really half assed.

I'm really not well versed in the A1 game, however, I remember someone pointing out these errors with the original slabside "prototype" and I know Clint said he forwarded this info to Mega in hopes they would change it accordingly.  Don't know if they will or not or anything from there.  That's to be seen later I guess.

as I seriously doubt there are any no fence lower forgings left I'm assuming that those making the new old lowers are milling off the fence.

pointless to give up structural integrity.
