I am very much a novice (actually a sub novice).  I have the itch in my butt to assemble an AR15 target upper.  What is this process like and is it something that can be done by a newbie?  What tools will I need?  Any good resources out there (Book/video) that I can buy?

Secondly, if the first one goes well, I would like to do something in a .17 or a .204.  Are the principles the same?

Thanks in advance, I look forward to all the advice I can get

I used to be intimidated by upper receiver assembly--until I saw it done in person during an armorer's course. Hell, I'm not exaggerating one bit when I say that a trained chimp could probably assemble one.

You'll need a good armorer's wrench and an action block for starters. If you are going for a complete upper build, you'll also need a couple of punches for the roll pins.

Thanks

I just saw the stick post on the main page.  I usually ignore them because there are so many things stuck at the top on the EE
