Hi all,

Please forgive the N00b question....ran a search but relly didn't find what I was looking for.   As expected, I've caught the BRD pretty bad. I'd like to try a build. Unfortunately, I'm on a shoestring budget and wanted to get opinions of what you guys might consider as the 'best" (I know, I know..way to broad) M4 profile flat top upper for < $1K.   I'm kind of leaning toward RRA at the moment.  All opinions are appreciated.

Thanks

I put together a stripped Lauer lower using a Bushmaster lower parts kit and an LMT M4 stock and then used a 16" LMT M4 upper for under a grand.  Definitely shop around here in the Industry Forum and EE for the best deals on the parts.  Doing the lower yourself is really quite easy if you are at all mechanically inclined and a fun Sunday afternoon project.  Plus, you get exactly what you want.

XM15M4Guy,

RRA makes a fine rifle, but I think all of their M4 barrels are heavy under the handguards.  Which negates the idea of being like a real M4 barrel, which is supposed to be light weight.  Not a big deal if you never plan to carry it, or if it is only going ot be for range use.  Bushmaster, as stated above, makes a nice M4 for a decent price.  Bushie also makes the normal contoured barrel, which makes a different in how the weapons "points" and manuevers.

Either way, both are fine weapons.
