| Does anyone have any plans or details that they would be willing to share with me. I have a room in my basement that is setup like my large walk-in gun safe. What I am looking for is a rack or stand type that I can bolt into the wall to seperate all my rifles. The space I am dealing with is 31 3/4" wide by about 6' tall. So I am thinking of a simple shelf on top for pistols, but i need something to seperate the guns from one another. Any idea's or where to look for ideas would be welcome. Thanks |

This will take care of any AR-15 rifles: www.plastixplustx.com/ar15/ar15.html |

I've been thinking about doing something similar in my basement. I was leaning toward securing a dressed up peg board against one wall and just mount 2 metal arms (hooks) to hold up each rifle and using single hooks to hold my pistols. And even hooks to hold up small shelfs for other misc. items. I'm very interested in others plans or ideas as well. Or you can try this link if you want a modular system. http://www.secureit-usa.com/secure-weapons.asp hope this helps.......... OOPS I thought that the above web address would be a direct click link.......Can someone let me know how to place links into the post please!!!

| Well really what I am thinking about doing is just building a rack. Right now I have the space and the corner I want to put it in, kind of a hidden cubby in the basement. Just a place where I can rack my rifles and not really needing a safe (thanks for the links) it gives me ideas. The room is seperate from the rest of the basement, like a closet, though it is all bricked in. All it needs is a good secure door and whalla, gun safe. What I am thinking is that I need something like an A frame rack only I need half of that as it will fit against the wall, drilled in and secure. If anyone has any diagrams of A frame type racks that would be most helpful as I could just augment the design a little to make it work. Take care |
I would take a 2x4 and a 2x6or8 and using a drill and 3" hole bit (like for door knobs), you can cut slots for each rifle. Use the 2x4 up high and the 2x6 down low. |

Holy Cow, now that was funny "viola", man I was thinking "Whalla", but it is obviously my fingers were thinking something else!!!! But that is a fine idea, just got to get the 3" bit now. I was also thinking about a 2x4 at the top with 3" pieces of say a wood dowl rod, drilled and tapped with a wood screw from the back side, though this sounds like way too much work now with your idea.
