[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Charging Handle Disassembly

Is there a trick to removing the roll pin on the Colt charging handles? I've never had a problem removing them on my RRA CH's but I have broken a punch and my roll-pin starter pin is bending just trying to remove this damn thing. It's not budging. I have lso tried soaking it in CLP but no luck. Any help is appreciated.

I had installed tactical latches on RRA and LMT CHs but not on a Colt yet.

You could apply some heat, but not too much, either boiling water or hair dryer. It should make the aluminum expand which should make it easier to remove the stubborn roll pin.
