Does anyone know how Colt made the short hanguards for the XM607?  I'd like to make a pair for a project that I'm working on.  And yes I do know about Total Silence Inc but he doesn't do international sales and I'm up in Canada.  I've got to have a pair of these handguards.

I thought I knew, but I was wrong.

Good luck with your project.

Colt cut down standard triangular handgards and used a metal cap on the rear. The front was the original triangular cap. The retaining ring was the original grooved ring used prior to the A2.

In the past I have cut down the triangular handgards and spliced the rear section that locks into the barrel nut onto the front. This is done with epoxy, polyester resin and fiberglass or kevlar cloth. It is very labor intensive, and the end result is very nice, although not authentic.
I have recently seen the rear metal caps like in the above pic for sale at local gun shows (Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana area) reasonably priced (under $25). This would only require a set of cut down triangular HG's and would be relatively authentic. It would be a lot cheaper too.

MASP7 thanks for your info.  Does anyone know a store that stocks the rear metal portion?  I could try a gunshow but it's a bit of a jaunt from up here.

I looked at a few websites, but none listed them specifically.
You could contact Sherluk, Model 1 Sales, and J&T directly.
There's not a lot of shows this time of year, but I'll look at the next one in June and see who has one.
Email me direct and I'll let you know.

I think some place called Northridge sold the caps with instructions on how to cut the HGs.

Northridge may sell them, but they're not on their website.
