Everthing went pretty easy.  A special thanks to Tom in Texas for mailing me out a Detent pin, after mine went flying across the home.

Got the Kit from Del-Ton, great people to work with.  Will be ordering again from them.  For 4 years I had the M1 Garand bug, I think I'm coming down with the AR bug now.

Two question possible problems.

1.  Safety selector moves very easliy.  Not like my Bushmaster or Uncle Sams Colts.  What could it be.  I have the Ergo Grip, so I'm thinking the spring is down in the grip to far.

2.  The Upper/Lower receiver fit may be to tight.  Once again not like the Bushmaster or the 10 or so different M16 I've used.  Might make a more accurate AR, but I don't think its right.  I'm using a Stag lower.

Thanks once again Tom.

1) The grip hole could definitely be too deep, I would measure it.  (but I'm not sure what the proper hole depth is).  Could also be wrong/wrong length spring.

2)  As long as you can push both pins through and the gun functions propery (trigger/hammer/bolt/carrier/buffer) then it is fine.  Tight is good (but doesn't really affect accuracy).  It will loosen up in time.  Mine was very tight in the beginning, but after working it a bit, it is pretty smooth now.

Bushmaster225,
I just recieved my kit yesterday. Put it all together and will agree that the upper and lower is pretty tight but like Vector Joe said it will loosen up over time.

As far as my selector switch goes,  it is nice and firm. Sticks well in each position to. I have the A2 grip so I would check the depth of yours.

The people at Del-ton where great, with fast shipping. I only had one problem with the entire kit and they are overnighting the part to me. The castle bolt for the extenable butt stock was missing 2 threads and it wouldnt let me put it onto the tube. Talk to Pam there she apologized a hundred times and is overnighting the part to me. Great service from start to finish. I will try and post pictures later.

Shim the area in the grip where the spring drops in.  Its a pretty easy deal to get it to your liking.

I have a DPMS lower/ LMT upper on one of my rifles and it is still so tight I need to use something hard to push out the pivot pin.  I think it's pretty normal on new AR's, especially BIY's.  As everyone else said it should get easier with time, and you might even need an accuwedge eventually!  :)

As far as the selector, are you sure you used the correct spring?  I've seen a few guys on here mess up builds cause they used the wrong spring, often with weird results like you're describing.  Otherwise, yeah, it must be something funny with that aftermarket grip.

Hope this helps,

Ray

PS  Nice looking build!
