| Thanks. Boy I'm not sure how long. I machined it on my mini-mill... probably at least 50 hours on the mill. I sanded it down to smooth out the forging, then sand blasted it and anodized it last night. 55 hours total maybe. I am going to build this out for my wife... she wants a CAR with pink camo 'girlie-flage' furniture. |
I bought some pink paint and planned to mask off the black furniture in a tiger pattern with tape. |
That's the hardest part. I drilled all of the corners and 1/16 radius spots with long 1/8 drill bits. Then I scribed the top surface and hogged out as much of the mag well as I could with long end mills, going progressively smaller in diameter. I finished it up with filing. Its a PITA, but it works. |

Hey Nevada, That build looks great! Nice job, and it's cool that the mini mill can handle it! One little offering, for your next build, when you're anodizing, try getting some alum. wire at a Radio Shack, and double it up & "thread" it into the pistol grip screw hole. That will make a great anode contact area, and since it's inside the threaded hole, you won't care that it's not anodized there. Keep on millin', /TCP |
