| What the fuck is going on? I just broke my vice, scratched up my receiver and dented my receiver clamp block thing. I used the blowtorch and the WD40, but it’s still on there just as tight as ever. I’m so angry I wanna beat the piece of crap to death with the giant pipe wrench. HOW DO I GET THIS PIECE OF SHIT OFF OF MY UPPER? |

Go here: Float tube problem If the bushmaster tube is anything like the Rock River tube it is a pain. I had to use a torch and get the thing up around 600+ degrees. I got to the point where I had the torch about 1/4" away from the tube just to get it hot enough. Should have used a MAPP torch instead of propane. It took about 10-15 minutes of heating, moving all around the lock ring to melt the loctite below. Once it got hot enough the lock ring came loose easily but the tube had to be heated even more to get it loose from the barrel nut. Once you get the tube off, make sure you burn off the remaining loctite or it will be a pain to get back together. Use A LOT of heat and it should work alright for you. Hope this helps. MJD |

It appears to be a two-piece, a big cylindrical thing with a little ring with holes in it for the gas tube being the second piece. Just to be clear, it is the Vmatch kind, like this: http://www.shootersshop.com/bushmaster_photos/pcwvms16.jpg, not the DCM kind. Yes, I removed the gas tube and so forth. As for heating it, does it have to still be hot when I try to remove the tube? If so, won’t that melt my receiver clamp thing? Not that it matters now, because I need to go get a new vice anyway. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID THING! I’m either going to sell this upper, or throw it away so that no one else has to deal with it, I think. This is the only AR upper that has ever given me problems, and it has given me tons. I think it is cursed. |
