I ordered most of my major parts directly through DPMS.  After the fact, I discover that I could have ordered the same DPMS parts through distributors for way less.  I guess it's just a rookie mistake.  However I still don't understand it.  I bought my lower for the catalog price of $179, and upper for $125.  After seeing posts on this site, as well as prices on various AR15 parts sites, I see new DPMS stripped lowers for $105 and uppers for $100.  I have seen sometimes that when you buy directly from a manufacturer you pay a few bucks more or less.  I don't understand this big of a percentage difference.  Oh well, now I know.  At least I got free shipping (nothing's free).
Still waiting for DPMS "16 Heavy AP4 chrome barrel ($221).  Five weeks and counting...

Individual dealers can charge what they want but the manufacturer needs to charge the full MSRP to retail customers.  Otherwise they'd be undercutting thier dealers, which would piss off their dealers and cause them to stop carrying the manufacturers products.

Almost like what Bushmaster's doing.  Except Bushmaster is only giving dealors a 10% markdown, causing dealors to charge more than retail to make any sort of profit.

I talked to Bushmaster about becoming a direct dealer, and found out that we could get the guns cheaper through our distributors than BM direct.
