Trying to remove the gas rod from the gas block. The roll pin came out no problem. Cannot get the rod to budge am soaking it in Kroil. Any suggestions on how to remove the rod?

I've had to resort to visegrips and a hammer before.

Those tubes are amazingly strong.

Try some carbon remover 1st.

Last one I did, I had to put the gas block in a vise (padded with a leather glover to avoid scratches).  I put a set of vise grips on the tube and tapped the vise grips with a hammer.  It came off, but didn't come easy.

This may be obvious, but you do have the bolt carrier out of the upper right? If not, you won't have any room to move the gas tube back since the rear end of it is sitting in the bolt carrier key.

The gas block is off the gun in a vice with the rod still in it. I will try the vice grip and hammer when I get off of work.

Thanks

Other way.  Hold the upper upside down and clamp the gas tube in the vise.  It'll come right out, jsut be careful not to pull too hard and let something get scratched up.

this makes sense!  (I usually seem to find the hard way to do things)

If the block and tube are already off try duct tape on the gas block to protect it and slip a steel pipe over the tube.  up and down a few times over a padded surface is a nother way to try.  kinda like a pile driver.
