I've decided to build my own lower based on RR parts including their NM trigger. I believe I have everything installed correctly (no upper on it yet). I read the guide to installing the RR NM trigger found on this site plus the instructions RR sent. I believe it is installed properly as the pics in the guide on this site look identical to my lower with NM trigger installed. A couple of quick questions (please no flaming as this is the first AR-15 I have built): 1) Should there be any tension on the hammer after it is installed? Mine moves up and down by hand without a problem. I can push it all the way down and into the engagement on the trigger. I am able to work the safety to verify that it does not release when safe is engaged. 2) With the hammer engaged into the trigger and in fire mode, if I were to pull the trigger should the hammer not fall (or in this case get released and stand vertical like it shows in the completed picture of the guide) under tension from the spring? Mine does not and requires me to pull the hammer while pulling the trigger - there is no tension at all on the hammer. 3) The guide does not mention anything about putting the disconnector and spring back neither does the instructions from RR. I am assuming they do not get put back in? 4) Does it seem like everything here is working properly from what I have described? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I did try the search function but was unable to locate the information I am seeking! Thanks, Brent |

1) Yes, the original hammer AND trigger springs should be installed in the new RRA 2 stage trigger. Recheck the safety after the springs are in. Also, check the disconnector function by holding the trigger in the release position (fire) and manually push the hammer down then let it go without releasing the trigger, the disconnector should catch the hammer and preventing it from falling forward. Same test should be repeated once the upper is in, manually racking the bolt without releasing the trigger, the hammer should NOT follow the bolt 2) Hammer should release from the sear IF the hammer spring is installed. 3) Correct, the RRA unit included disconnector and spring, pinned in the trigger body. 4) No, see #1) above. First off, thanks for the warm welcome! Much appreciated! Now back to the problem at hand. For starters the hammer spring was rotated towards the front of the receiver as oppose to the back of receiver (the back of the hammer). That solved the, "No Pressure" problem. I guess I should have mentioned this was the NM trigger & hammer kit. So it seems the only thing wrong was the hammer spring position. Just to verify the trigger is working properly, this is what I did: A) Pulled hammer back. Trigger catches it. Pull trigger, hammer falls. B) Pulled hammer back. Trigger catches it. Engaged safety. Hammer will not fall when trigger is pulled. Tried to move hammer around to make it fall - safety stopped it. C) Puller hammer back while pulling trigger. Let go of hammer while still pulling trigger. Trigger stopped the hammer from falling. Tried to move hammer around again but it would not fall. Let go of trigger. Pulled trigger and hammer fell. I also did A about 20 times without any issues at all. If I am missing something, or another safety check please let me know! Once again, Thanks for the welcome and the help! Now, if Illinois would only get rid of Chicago and the Gov. Brent |
Glad to here it's all working fine for you.

| The RRA instructions leave a lot to be desired. I installed 2 RRA NM triggers and was able to figure out what they don't give you in the instructions. I write technical bulletins and stuff at work. I was tempted (still might) to re-write their instructions and send it to them. A lot of times the guy writing the instructions makes the assumption that the reader knows as much as him. I usually write for the guy that has never seen the unit before. |
