I would like to buy a new lower and a .50BMG upper.

What are the best .50BMG bolt action uppers?  How much should I be paying for one?

Also, do I have to get a very high end lower, or would a cheaper one (such as a $90 Stag) work for me?

Check out "The Armory" link in here at the top. There is a .50BMG section that has a lot pf people asking the same thing. lots of other 50 info also.

Good luck!

Any lower will work AFAIK.

Good bolt action uppers are very abundant. Lots of companies out there.

These are very interesting.

Ultra Lite starts at $1,350.00

Ultra Mag starts at $1,850.00

Didn't you just watch 60 minutes?  Those .50 BMGs are evil!  Terrorists love them and you can shoot down planes too...

MineIsBigger,

I agree completely, I would love a .50 for that same reason!  The only drawback I see is the cost to reload... it's too bad someone doesn't make a ".50 cal style" single shot upper in a more "tame" caliber like the .338 Lapua mag or .338-378 Weatherby mag.  I'd buy one!

Shal1, the way I see it, I am used to going to the range and firing 500rds of 5.56 and 300rds of .45.
If I get a bolt action .50BMG I am going to shoot it slow and precise, which will probably save me money since I'll only be firing 30 or 40rds.

It would probably be cheaper to shoot 1K of 5.56 than 30 or 40 rds of .50 cal.  You won't be saving any money with the 50 no matter how slowly you shoot the thing.

But I think you need to go get yourself one of those monsters before it is to late.  I've been trying to talk my wife into buying me a Barret for a while now.  But there is no way I will be able to afford it for a few more years anyway.

I saw some new .50BMG non-reloads for about $2/round being recommended a while ago.

Currently I'm paying $110 for 500rds of M193 and I don't even know how much for the 300rds of .45.

Want to REALLY piss of a liberal?  I wish someone offered a .50 AR pistol upper!  Something with say, a 10 or 12" barrel, and a brake the size of a softball.  Now THAT I'd 2nd mortgage the house for if need be.

You'd need a third mortgage for the hospital bills to fix up your wrist, arm, and face every time you shoot the thing!!!
