Having just built my first gun, I'm a little nervous that everything will be okay when I take it to the range on Friday. When looking through the action at the front of the bolt, should the firing pin be visible? I see the hole in the center but nothing inside. Is it held way back until pulling the trigger? |

It kinda just slides around in their unless pressure is on it from the hammer. I know what your going through. But don't worry. Do what I did. I took a friend with me to shott my AR after I completed building not only my lower, but the upper, too. If I blew off my face, I told him where my cell phone was! |

If you have a little doubt that's normal. Do a function check on the lower and everything should be fine (BTW don't let the hammer slam into the bolt catch if you have the receivers apart to do the check). Did you assemble the upper (i.e. barrel it yourself)? Spartan24 does have the right idea, the buddy system is a good backup. |

Do a safety function check, and you will be fine. If the bolt locks into the barrel, and the trigger resets correctly, there aint much that can go wrong. Start with one round in your mag, then go to two, then go from there.... just in case you are worried about a runaway. Stop between each shot and examint the appearance of the carrier.... did it go fully into battery... etc.... |
