Would it be kosher to use a post ban rifle buffer tube as a buffer tube on a pistol build. The tube uses the standard CAR buffer and spring and came with a Colt fixed M4 stock. The stock was removed and the buffer tube has no holes drilled in the rail along the bottom. I had a friend cut off the excess from the rear of the tube and bead blast it. i then painted it matte black. It looks just like a CAR buffer tube, but it does not have the detent holes drilled that allow the stock to adjust and slide. Just wanting to see what the general opinion was before I installed it on the pistol. I read the letter floating around here that was posted about CAR buffer tubes, but i wanted to make sure. |

It think its the rout im gona try. Ive got it pretty much done , useing the standard car spring and an H2 buffer, im hopeing to minimize recoil. Also hopeing the Phantom FH makes the 3 foot fireball look like a Bic lighter instead of a flamthrower. I figured I could do the regualr buffer tube, but If i ever was questioned bya LEO id rather be able to point out the fact that a stock will not mount on the pistol due to the lack of the adjusting holes. Im gona order one of those foam tubes as well from ACE that they use on there Skel stocks and slide it over the buffer tube. At least that way I could pull the buffer tube against my cheek for line of sight and still be comfortable. Im tempted to stick a bipod on it LOL to see what kinda groups I can pull out of a 7.5" barrel.

I don't shoot mine "one handed". I put my cheek on the buffer tube which gives me the exact same "cheekweld" as an SBR without anything touching my shoulder. It is very steady this way and I can hit 8" diameter steel plates at 75 meters with no problem. Not bad accuracy for a "Pistol". MadDog |
| LOL thats an interesting idea. It wouldnt be considered a stock since you dont shoulder it, but it would add to stability and almost make the pistol rigid to your arm. Instad of the recoil being soley on your hand/wrist, it would also be spread to your mid arm. For those who dont understand what hes asking. If you isntalled some type of half moon deal off the right side of the buffer tube, that sat on or wrapped around your forarm, kinda like the crutches that some handicap people use. it stabilizes there arm so they can keep the crutches at a straight angle. Very interesting idea. |

Here's another idea. For those of us who know how to weld or know people that can..... Take a stock A2 tube, cut it the length you desire, then weld a back plate onto the tube to keep the spring / buffer from coming out the back. Then sand it all down and hit it with flat black spray paint and viola. This way there is no way in *$%& you can mount a rifle stock (as there are no screw holes). and for asthetics, please sand everything smooth so it looks like one piece :). I've done this to a couple of my pistols and it works fine.... Slap in your CAR buffer / spring and go. This way you can play with the lengths of the tube.. |
