Assembling a lower last night and I pushed the spring and plunger into proper hole but there must be a burr keeping it from moving. Now it will not come out. Any suggestions? I do not want to put the bolt catch on if the spring and push pin are stuck????
Its always the little things!!!

Thanks

See my thread about the Sherluk and RR lower kits. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=221716

I think my problem is similar to the problem you are having. Make sure you are using the correct spring. I think some kits don't have the correct spring for the plunger.

What kind of kit do you have?

Probably the wrong size roll pin or the hole size in the bolt catch itself. May need to open the hole up just a hair in the bolt catch. I used a drill press and a drill bit that just fit the hole in the bolt catch.  I have had to do several of these on the last few parts kits I have installed.

The problem is not seating the roll pin it is the fact that the spring and push point is now stuck in the hole that they should freely move within. Not sure how to get them unstuck. Once removed I will check for burrs or the cause of the problem and fix it. That will be the easy part. I do not have a plan to get them unstuck.

You might try one of those things that mechanics use for retrieving dropped screws. It's like a collapsing radio antenna, but it has a magnet on the tip.

If that doesn't work, try grabbing it with a pair of needle nose pliers. You may have to grind the tip flat to get a good grip on the plunger.

Needle nose can't get a grip on it. I think I will try running a clip of ammo through it and see if that jars something loose.

Degrease it and let it dry. Then take a stick of similar diameter and put a dab of cyanoacrylate glue (Krazy Glue) on the end. Touch it to the plunger until it sets. Then slowly pull it out.

The bigger the magnet the better - old speaker magnet might help if its really jammed - they also have some for using to retrieve fishing gear that went overboard etc...  just a suggestion.

You may also be able to apply a adhesive to a punch - superglue - but you better be real careful...
