Thinking about adding a float tube to my AR . . . . what action block should I be using?
Is there one that is a better value than others?
Thanks!

I really like the DPMS unit with the 2 pins. No markings left on the reciever, and you can just leave it in the vice.

Panther Claw

I think when it's time to get an action block, then I'll get that one.

Regular action block won't work with my Stag upper I don't think.

I have seen them cheaper than this

For the price, I wouldn't use that one unless I had to with a left handed receiver.  There is a lot of torque being applied to the take down holes on the upper.  Make sure not to over torque.

I use the block that brownells has.

That Panther Claw is the only reason I would choose it, is fact that my gun is a lefty.

The "claw" has a fin that fits into the charging handle slot, and almost completely fills the reciever. Stress is really evenly distributed.

I hope it does. I would be really afraid to break the takedown holes when installing a barrel.

Fulton Armory offers the Peace River style action block with insert for just $29.95 plus shipping.

+1 on the panther claw.  Imo, it is the easiest to use

Here are some pictures of the Panther Claw

and how it fits in the upper.

Brownells has two different prices there.  When they say set do them mean the insert?

Is the insert necessary and does anyone know if the Bushmaster block comes with an insert.

I've got the Bushmaster block and like it okay.  If I had it all to do over, I'd buy the Peace River one with the insert though.

Bushmaster makes the best action block I have seen. I know of two people who have broken the Peace River Arms style action blocks.

I believe that "set" refers to the combination of the lower mag well block and the upper receiver blocks.  AFAIK the Peace River/Brownell upper receiver block always comes with the insert.
