I just went out and shot an AR that I just built.

Shot 160 rounds through it so far with only one problem.

I can hear the buffer spring in the stock. Its an A-1 stock. Is it a probem with the buffer spring or something else. While the rifle functions fine I find the sound of the spring very annoying.

What can I do about it.

Thats how they are, some people grease the inside of the buffer tube.

I can't see greasing the buffer tube to let it get crudded up just because of a noise.  However, opinions are different, and it may be worth it if it bothers you that much.

Now where are the pics?

There was a very sizable thread on this elsewhere in this forum.

Basically, that noise is a good thing and means your AR is functioning correctly.

I initially found it annoying to. You get over it.

I hate the sproing too , and I put a little moly grease on the spring coils before inserting it . This helps emensly , and as long as you arnt going into some kind of a dusty situation ( Iraq  or simular , dirt cling , lol ) it will work for a while before it needs reapplyed . There are other options that are perminante ( excuse my spelling as I have a migraine right now ) like the pneumatic or hydrolic buffers .

You should sell it real cheap.

I don't mind the spring noise, it doesn't seem very loud. Maybe it's worse on A1 or A2 stocks than on my M4 stock.

I don't notice the noise on my Magpul but I can on an A2.
