Please use your search function.  This question is asked on a weekly basis.  FALARAK has given you a head start.

oops, missed a couple-fixed them!

The search function for non paying members is quite limited.  You can only search the body and subject of a message, for example, but not for any particular member's posts-and the My Topics button only shows your own threads, not threads that you've posted in.

I haven't gotten off the stick scraped up enough pennies to pay for my membership, and I'm constantly running into things with these forums that baffle me.  I can't do a number of things on these forums that I can do on a number of other free forums.

So back to the subject: the consensus is that for a civilian's rifle, a chrome lined bore is not essential, but if you have the option, go for it.  You'll save time in cleaning, the barrel may not wear out as quickly, and so on...

Don't ask, just go chrome. It's only an extra $50 for krissake.

Well.... using search capabilities for paid members is bogus in my opinion.... because newbies need it MOST!

I can understand users who dont register at all... and just lurk.... but damn....... you should have to pay money to get the basic info that keeps these questions from being re-asked all the damn time.

There's newbies, and then there's newbies.  If it's really difficult to use, newbies are discouraged from even trying to search.

I'm kind of frustrated by the relatively few options available to a "member" who's not a "Team Member."  And while I try to use the search, I find that either a) I have to wait 376 seconds for the next public search, or b) I can't search on the fields I want (like usernames so I can find out wha El Roto said last week), or c and worst of all) I can't look back more than 30 days-especially when most of the troubleshooting FAQ entries happened long before that.  To be blunt, the search capabilities open to non-paying members bite.

And (staying on topic!) I'm now looking at, in the distant future, building either an A2 or A4 20" upper.  Are chrome lined barrels available in only certain profiles, or can I find heavy, pencil, A2 etc. profiles with chrome linings?

I have never had a problem with a non-chrome lined barrel.

BM, Colt, LMT, RRA, J&T and CMMG all offer chrome-lined barrels in different profiles and lengths.
