Hey guys.  I cureently have 5 ar-15's all colts iwth two bushy m-4's on the way.  I am wanting to do two buildups just for fun and am wondering what the best tools are out there for assembly and maintence.  What do you guys consider to be "do-without" tools or fixtures and waht brands up upper holders, lower holders, barrel wrenches, etc. do you prefer and why.  I am starting with nothing but a really good set of hollow ground screwdrives in a set of 8. Let me know what is in YOUR TOOLBOX!!

I Don't use Lower Holders for anything...YMMV
For an upper I use Peace river blocks or DPMS vise blocks or both depending on Circumstance.

Barrel Wrenches I use a J&T Multitool or a GI barrel wrench... because I have them.
Torque wrenches seldom use them but I have them...
drift punches I have had for years...
Ball Peen hammer I have also Had for years...

I am new to this, but I love my DPMS block, the one that uses 2 pins to hold the upper reciever. I also use the Bushmaster barrel wrench, a set of Sears drift punches, a set of cheap brass punches, and an assortment of hammers.

You NEED a good vise, for sure.
You NEED a good set of punches; for FSB work, you want quality.
You NEED a good barrel wrench; I use a DPMS armorer's wrench
The usual screwdrivers, hammers, allen wrenches (common tools)

You can do all AR service and assembly with the above.

Things that are nice: Action block, torque wrench, dedicated collapsible stock wrench
