Can someone provide a description for permanently attaching a FH? Specifically, the pin and weld method. Thanks.

Attach device, drill hole through device and into the barrel slightly, insert appropriate size pin to lock device to barrel,, and TIG over the hole. Re-finish as desired.

Is it possible to drill the hole in the FH and then tap and use a set screw? The kind of set screw with the pointed end and recessed allen head? What is the diameter head that is usually used? Thanks for the info.

Lot of extra work, tap, screw, allen wrench..... still need to bore into barrel to allow set screw to interlock so as to not allow the device to turn.

Simpler/less expensive to get a small steel pin, bore hole for pin, insert pin, and weld over.

I have used a 8x32 set screw on the ones I have done. As far as refinishing ,depends how fussy you are. I just use some cold blue.
