I have A2 front sights. I just need to bunch the roll pin for the gas tube, and the two pins at the bottom of the sight correct? And maybe drill out the sling swivel? I am wanting to add a weaver gas block.

Yes  punch out roll pin for the gas tube, then  the 2 pins at the bottom of the sight tower  some are tapered pins they will only come out one way  i usuly have the upper in the vice  with the reciever to my right hand side   and most all pins can be driven out  like that . The swivel will come off with the front sight tower  you should not have to drill that out

Is reinstallation of a weaver gas block fool proof?

Absolutely not.

After removing the existing block you will see what should be two grooves in the underside of the barrel, through which the pins pass to hild the original gass block in place.

These were made by placing the original in-place and drilling the holes through both it, and the barrel.

Trying to drill your own holes to line up with these existing grooves is close to impossible, and only acheivable with specifically made jigs and a lot of experience.

IMHO you have two options, take the job to a gunsmith who has lots of previous (successfull!!) expereince doing this sort of work, or forget it and buy a replacement barrel already fitted with thw weaver gas block.

Would front sights from the same manufacturer have the same dimentions.  Specificly Colt Post ban to Colt preban?
