What is the difference between 1-9 and 1-8 rate of twist and what exactly does fluting do? |
About 1 inch. Really no really ok the shorter the twist, the better it handles longer bullets. Some 1 in 9 can handle the 'above 65 grain' bullets, but the 1 in 8 should be better at that. As said, fluting takes off some material but keeps the same outer diameter so helps rigidity. If you compare a fluted barrel and a non fluted barrel of the same mass then the fluted one will be more rigid. |
