Is there a good guide to installing the barrel on an ar? I would like to do this myself, but being a nOOb I don’t want to screw it up. I know I need tools to do this, I'm pretty mechanically inclined so I think I could tackle the install just need some direction.

Also Instructions on checking head spacing.

Thanks

Go up to the top of this forum- third post down has some excellent how-to and great photos.  I did my first barel swap last night, and it was easier than it looks.  Thanks FALARAK!!
By the way, you DO need the correct tools.

RE: Headspace -

The barrel you purchase will have the extension already attatched.  This is where headspace is an issue.  You can buy a headspace gauge for your own piece of mind, but a decent barrel with a good bolt is really all you need.

I agree for the most part, but you still should check the headspace.  Every once in awhile a reject still falls through the cracks.

I bought my barrel and bolt/carrier from Bushmaster. Since this is my first AR i wanted to use parts that a lot of people reccomend.  I'll check you the link I'm sure I'll have questions.
