THINKING ABOUT ADDING A CAR STOCK. DO STOCKS COME WITH A STOCK LOCK RING, STOCK LOCK PLATE, AND THE CAR SPANNER WRENCH. AND DO I NEED THEM ? I FOUND A FIBER LITE COLLAPSIBLE STOCK FOR $42, IS IT A FAIR PRICE ? |

STOP!!! You cannot put one on your rifle unless its a pre-ban (built or bought pre-9/13/1994). If it is a pre-ban, then you would need the lock ring, lock plate and wrench. The ring and plate are parts to the stock which are installed. Without it, the stock won't stay on. The wrench makes installing it easier, although you can use a pipe wrench with judicious padding as a substitute. Oh, yeah, typing on an internet forum in all caps is akin to yelling...bad form unless you want to be yelling... That said, welcome to ARFCOM |

All you should need is the spanner wrench, just make sure you get the right one. There are two types of stock nuts: newer style castle nuts and older style CAR nuts. The castle nuts have 4 rectangular holes and use a wrench that has a rectangular piece sticking out on three sides. The CAR nuts will have a round hole and the wrench will have a 1 round nub on it. The nut and plate should come with the stock. You may need a CAR buffer and buffer spring if the stock doesn't come with them (usually do). Don't put the stock on unless the rifle is a preban. |
