| I tried this topic at Maint. and cleaning but no respnse yet, thought I would post here. I bought a LMT enhanced bolt, should this be able to drop into my Bushmast M-4? Or should I have a gun smith make sure everything is kosher? I bought it online at one of the dealers on this forum and he said 99 times out of 100 it should just drop in. |
| Like the dealer said, 99 times out of 100 it should be fine. The question is do you think it is worth your time and money to get it headspaced by a smith? Me, personally, when dealing with things involving high pressure and explosions, I tend to side with making sure everything is 100% |
| Well my problem is that I live in a small town and i am not sure there is anyone around who works on Ar's. The local gunshop does not even keep them on the shelves. What I am worried about is if it is going to blow up in my face or just cause a malfunction. I have a J & T upper to get me through if I have to take it to Lexington to have someone make sure it is okay but I would rather drop it in and see if it works. By the way the LMT bolt looks great, is supposed to be easier to clean, and more reliable. If it fulfills it's promise definitely worth the $150 I paid for it. |
You need a USGI 'Field' headspace gauge. You just want to make sure that the bolt won't close on a field gauge, if it did then you have too much headspace. You can get one from Bushmaster. |
