I'm wanting a pre ban Colt M4A3 and don't want to pay 3500.00 for it so I thought I would build one.

My question is what lower is the best for this h

I can think of no benefit or reason to use an older style slab side receiver unless you are going for an exact copy of something that used a slab side lower (M16, M16A1, SP1, etc.) . To the best of my knowledge, no version of the M4 ever used a slab side lower.

I am also not aware of anybody who makes new slab side lowers so if your heart is set on one, expect to spend some time looking for one and also expect to pay a pretty penny for it. People still want a premium for them because they are no longer made.

Don't buy a slab side sp1 unless you are into torturing yourself.
