Decided to start a Varmint type project using another one of my MEGA lower/upper combos.  Got the RRA lower kit installed w/o any problems, took all of 15 minutes.

Ordered a Wilson 24" SS barrel in 1:8 twist from RRA but they are on back order.  As soon as I get it, the upper and barrel are off to Bushmaster for the Varminter style free-float tube.  I asked RR if I could get thebarrel w/o the gas black already installed and they could not tell me for sure.  I hope it comes un-installed to help Bushmaster out some.  So far, istalling the gas block and FF tube is something I am not prepared to do myself.

Have not decided yet on stock or optics.  Anyone have a build with the Wilson SS barrel??

Bow,

If you can put together a lower then you damn sure can assemble a barrel and upper receiver.  I would strongy encourage you to do this youreslf.  It's not a big deal.

YOU will do a better job building YOUR rifle than anyone else will.

I didn't build it but i have a RRA upper and lower,  I bought the 24"1:8 wilson , all I put together was the lower. But with the BH 68 gr blue box it shoots .27 - .3  @  100 all day. I love it.

Enjoy the new AR when your finished.

CMOS... thanks for the vote of confidence.  I have built my own uppers and lowers but removing and replacing the gas block is something that I simply don't want to get involved with.

I have seen posts on here that discuss the issues with gas blocks/FS bases so I am gonna let someone with the tools who is better prepared than I do it.

Now if RRA sends me the barrel asembly w/o the gas block already installed, I may then scratch my ass a little and consider it.
