I want to change my safety to an ambi model. How do I remove the old safety? Thanks. |

To remove the safety selector lever separate the upper and lower first, then you'll start by removing the pistol grip... The grip screw will require either a flat head screwdriver or a 3/16" allen wrench, depending on manufacturer. As you remove the grip you'll see the safety detent spring which is partially inserted into the grip on the ejection side. The safety detent may or may not fall free. You may have to tap the lower in your hand as you wiggle the safety lever to get it to drop free... either way don't lose the spring or detent... Cock the hammer... FYI, be careful not to let the hammer fall full force with the lower separated from the upper, it could damage the lower or bolt catch... always control the hammer when you let it down! The safety selector should slide free to the non-ejection side with just a bit of wiggling around... edited for typo... |
