Besides the Barrel and mag well, what are the differences between a 9mm and a .223 AR15?  I heard that the bolt is different, but I know that the friendly side of a 9mm is the same as on a .223 round, and is the lower built the same beside the mag well?  If the bolt is different, what about the Carrier?

Thanks

The mag well isnt different, It's a adaptor that fits into the stock mag well, Either 1 piece to 2, Top load or bottom, really a couple different designs out there for mag blocks,.
Bolt and carrier on the 9mm is all one piece and differ from 5.56
Hammer is different
Buffer is different
Upper reciever is different, No gas tube hole or forward assist, although a 5.56 Reciever can be used in 9mm, but not visversa.
There are several differnt varitions on the Colt style 9mm, but as a basic rule the above applys,..UDOG

I know the magwell is just an insert.  What kind of mags does this take?  Are they interchangeable with any other 9mm firearm?  i.e. tec-9, MP5, 9mm uzi etc?

The Two most commonly used mags in the Colt style 9mm are the Colt 9mm Mags(of course) and Modified Uzi mags.
Uzis require two cuts to be made, One for the Mag catch and one for clearence on the Hold open lever..UDOG

Colt mags come in 2 varitys. 20 round and 32 round.
Unless your an LEO then pre-ban mags are all thats available to you and I
The EE on this Forum is a good place to start, Currently Preban Colt's are going for around 80-100$ a piece. After the ban look for these to drop too around $40. Bad news iss the price, Good news is they work outta the box, Hold the bolt open on an empty mag and are "right" for the firearm.
Uzi 25 rounders can be had for 10-15$ plus 10-15$ a piece for the Mod's................UDOG
