I have a Colt with a front sight and a Bushmaster with a milled FSB, they both are flat tops and I scope both rifles, I was going to mill the front sight off my Colt but it has the F stamping on it and from what I gather it is odd and hard to find, I also have an Armalite railed gas block but I don't have a clue as to how to install it, the ones on their website have 2 holes drilled for pins I assume but mine has no holes other than the gas port. I like the cleaner sight picture I get with no FS in the way but it might be nice to go to irons if needed. Right now my Colt wears a RRA scope mount and a 1.75-6 Leupold scope and it's high enough to clear the sight but I'm wanting to put an Armalite mount on it to get more eye relief and it's lower so what do I do? I know I could rig one with irons and one with a scope but the Colt outshoots the Bushmaster and has a jewell trigger so it seems like a waste not to scope it. Are Colt FSB's all drilled in the same position? Give me some options. |

Or get the Yankee Hill gas block/flip up front sight combo. It's very sturdy, and will cover the area on the barrel that will show after you take off the original front sight. It attaches via set screws, so you don't have to worry about the grooves on the barrel for the taper pins on the regular type sights. My Armalite railed gas block slides over the barrel and is held in place by to screws on the bottom of the block that tighten, clamping the gas block in place. There are a host of aftermarket options, all featuring one of the two very easy methods of attachment. |
