Woo Hoo!!! just picked my stripped lower tonight. I see there are lower parts from Colt--(are the Colt parts small pin??)Bushmaster---Rock River and a few others. Which would be the best to use?? Not looking for a match trigger---already have a Bushmaster Varminter---and want to build this more towards a militaty style. Noticed that Rock River had an enhanced carrier----would this be worth using?? Barrel will probably be a chrome lined Bushmaster----mainly because its the only place I've seen that offered barrels seperately. Have a Rock River lower----any suggestions on the upper----or would a Rock River fit better?? Willing to mix and match parts---I'm just trying to use the best I can get for each component. Cost isn't much of a concern---as I'll buy parts as the funds come along----so I don't have to come up with a big sum all at once. Thanks for any help or suggestions. |

I just bought a flat top upper with M4 Feed ramps complete from Del-Ton for $90.00 http://www.del-ton.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=70 They also have complete bolt and carrier for $100.00 Sorry I really can't answer your question on the pin sizes for Colt Internals for a lower Receiver. Never tried to use them. I think that Bushmaster has the best price on a complete lower parts kit, you can also try Gunsmoke Enterprises Inc. they sell the same Bushmaster kit and barrels for slightly less than Bushmaster does. http://www.ar15.tv/modules.php?op=modload&name=PostKart&file=index&req=categoryview&CID=8&KID= I've searched around and Bushmasters lower parts kit is about the best price I've found on those internals, and Bushmaster is GREAT to deal with, so if you have a problem with it, they will stand behind their parts. Also have you seen http://www.model1sales.com/ They have some pretty decent prices as well. Check out the Indusry Board lots of good links to search for parts. Also, don't know anything about RRAs enhanced carrier, maybe someone else can comment. I also have 2 RRA lowers that I'm building this year, and doing the same as you, parts hear and there so I don't strain the budget to much. 1st I'm building a M4 style rifle, and then a standard A2. I have read on this board about a little problem with a bushy upper to a RRA lower and that it required a litle filing on the rear lug to get the upper to fit. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=183034 On this thread they are talking about the fit of a RRA upper to a RRA lower. Searched for the thread on the Bushy Upper to RRA lower, but couldn't find it. Seems to me that any real fit problems can be overcome with some lapping compund or a file. I'm not to concerned about it on mine!! Good luck with your build!! Hope this helped! |
