I just received my kit from M&A yesterday, and I just wanted to say thanks! I never would have even tried to put together my own with all your encouragement. I used "the old clevis pin and razor blade trick." Great idea. I still almost launched the detent twice (LOL), until I snipped 2 coils off the detent spring. It was just the tiniest bit too long and wouldn't quite compress enough before that. I used a lower from CMT and the fit was EXTREMELY tight to my M&A upper assembly. A few swipes on the rear "lug" with my wife's extra fine emery board, and the upper fit nice and tight, but you can get it apart now. Yeah, she wasn't too pleased, but once it was assembled, she said, "Wow, that is one sexy-looking gun!." BTW, for those of you who aren't familiar with them, CMT is Continental Machine and Tool, and supposedly the supply forgings for Colt, Bushy, and RRA. They now sell finished lowers under their own brand name "Stag Arms." I bought my lower at a local gun store known for having above-average prices, for only $85. Thanks again everyone for all the assembly tips. |
