owdy,

Can someone give me some info on this AR lower receiver? I know it is made by Continental Machine Tool. It is marked:

CMT
(picture of globe)

New Britain, CT

U.S.A.

Model CMT-15
CAL 5.56mm

Black parked.
Never heard of it before but appears to be well made. Is it forged, hardened, or just cast? Any experience with or knowledge about would be appreciated. I can find nothing on my web search. Even the company web page offers no specifics.

Many thanks, Floyd

Continental makes uppers and lowers for colt and many others. Its a safe bet that most of the recievers from RRA and bushmaster, are also made by Continental. They have had and continue to have goverment contracts. Find a continental upper and lower and put an ER Shaw barrel(which colt also uses) on it and you'll have a colt for half the price.

They're forged aluminum, and they're black anodized. You cannot parkerize aluminum.

FWIW, CMT does RRA.

Splice in other acronyms as you see fit.

I've heard others mention that Continental Machine and Tool has recently introduced their own roll-marked lowers with a new name and logo:  Stag Arms, New Britain, CT.  Should be the same high-quality, in-spec lowers they have made for years for the Big Boys in the industry.  Just some more info for the kitty.
