I finished up my Johnny Cash "one piece at a time" rifles.  I've tried to cover all my bases so I used parts from: Colt, Armalite, RRA, Oly, DPMS, Fulton Armory and used some Bushmaster tools.

Hell All my rifles are Mutts. but I like em better than any off the shelf set up. The only comon theme PWA lowers. Bought WAY before the ban. Just wish I had bought more.

I am thinking about doing the same with one of my next two.

Thanks.

Nice lookin' rifles.  Is that like a foot-long sun shield on the scope?

Ski,
The scoped rifle came together as a result of parts left over when acquiring various pieces to build the CMP A2 rifle.

FLAT TOP:
Lower Receiver:  DPMS
Lower Parts and Buttstock:  RRA
Trigger Spring:  RRA replaced with $15 4.5 pound spring
Flattop Upper: from Fulton Armory
Charging Handle, Bolt and Carrier Group:  Colt
Scope Mounts:  High profile Leoupold Rifleman rings
Scope:  Weaver Grand Slam 6-20X40 mm with extension tube (extension clears the vent holes so this should help with barrel mirage).  (Had this on a .243 and it's just too much optics for deer hunting).
Free Float Tube:  Fulton Armory (lowest priced tube) Three piece tube!
Gas Block:  DPMS
Gas Tube:  Fulton Armory
Barrel:  1x10 twist, Olympic stainless (blackened) ultra match (.223 chamber)

CMP A2
Lower Reciever, parts, buttstock:  RRA w/ two stage trigger
A2 Upper: Fulton Armory
Charging Handle, Bolt and Carrier Group:  Fulton Armory
Rear Sight:  1/2 MOA click Armalite
Front Sight:  NM taper from Fulton Armory
Handguards:  unknown
Barrel Float Tube (under handguards): unknown
Gas Tube: unknown
Barrel: 1x8 twist, Fulton Armory chambered Douglass Stainless Steel (Fulton Armory modified (Wylde type) chamber).

Hoping to shoot these soon and will report results.

This happened because I bought an upper on Ebay without asking enough questions.  The upper had a Colt large front pin receiver with bushing (sloppy fit and poor feeding from magazine) with Oly barrel, Colt bolt, carrier, charging handle, under handguard free float tube.

So... I have one stripped Colt upper for sale... on an auction site for $75 starting bid and $100 buy it now.  If no one has bid yet, I'll entertain any offers from the AR-15 team.  (But I really wouldn't recommend this if you want to slap on a mil-spec lower...at least I didn't find it satisfactory).

I took the mutts out today and they did pretty good I think.  The Flat top had one five shot, 100 yard group under 3/4 inch.  The A2 version suffered from my lack of practice and put 17 shots in about 3 1/2 inches.  Did the same with a 30 round group.  The A2 barrel was brand new, so I hope to do better with it with more practice and a bit more break in.  Fun stuff!  Here are some pics.

I took the flat top out to the 200 yard range today.  It was sunny and warm but the wind gusted from 5 to 20 mph.  To my surprise, 75 grain Black Hills ammo did the best in that 1x10 twist; under 2 inches!

Also pictures of my .308's performance today.
