Is there a site i can go to for information on building a 9mm AR? If so what are the recommended parts manufacturers for building it as a high quality firarm?

Well, you found it!!! [:D]

There isn't that much difference in the 9mm vs 223 AR.  To sum it up, a 223 lower will fuction fine w/ a 9mm upper.  IF you have the "compatible" hammer.

This link shows the most common questions on the 9mm:  http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=15&t=108261
I suggest reading

Hammers:
This pic shows a 223 hammer that WILL work with a 9mm upper.

Below is a picture of a hammer that WILL NOT work.  The difference is that little notch in the front.  If you get a hammer w/ the notch, it will lock up the bolt if used w/ a 9mm set up.

A simple solution is just to grind the head round....

If you read throught the post, you might have ran accross "bolt ramping".  Don't worry about this, yet.....

I have a 9mm set up from ASA on a Cavalry Arms lower.  My Cav Arms lower (plastic) was built as a 223 lower (has the 223 buffer and spring).  The hammer installed is the "compatible" one.  All I did was install the magazine block adapter and put the upper on and it was ready to go.

Parts:
Magazine conversion block

Center item.  This example is from Rock River Arms and costs 150.00

Magazine.  See notch near top... that is needed to work w/ the AR.  Standard Uzi mags don't have that notch....
Notched mag suggested retail 35.00

Upper...suggested retail: 450

I can't recall off the top of my head of RRA offers a 9mm "kit" to assemble.

Example if you were to "piece" a kit together-
lower: 100-125
lower parts: 50-60
butt stock kit: 60
upper: 450
adapter block: 150
mag: 35
total: 845-860
now, that is on the "high" side.

There are dealers (aka Industry partners) and sellers (look in Equipment exchange) that sell Rock River Arms stuff.  I suggest a Rock River Arms 9mm set up.  A lot of people like the RRA vs the ASA (as the ASA upper receiver looks "cheesy", my opinion).

Hope this helps.

Some more info....

Aside from "Colt style" (RRA and ASA are this style), you have Olympic Arms and their verison of pistol cal uppers.  Their 9mm uses a modifed Sten mag.  It has a extention welded on to it that the notch for the 223 mag catch "holds on to".  Modified mags typically run 50-65.00.  The Socom mag block (about 60.00) can be used.... held in place w/ the 223 catch and a paddle release holds the Sten mag in place.  A benifit of the Oly is, it will work on a 223 lower w/ any hammer.  An upper from Oly runs suggested retail about 600ish...

Both systems work.  I am biased since I have worked w/ the Colt style (owning an ASA).  I have no experiance w/ the Oly pistol cal style.
